I hate PowerPoint slide presentations. They bore me. I do not like the fancy effects and I hate the default font of Times New Roman. However, I have been known to use presentation software, and I have sat through some excellent presentations that use presentation software. I use presentation software when:
It is expected of me. (Job interviews and formal presentations where I have been explicitly asked to prepare “slides”.)
Students do not have access to me after my talk. (Workshops, public lectures.)
Typically I write “slides” in DocBook, “tutorials” in HTML and “HOWTOs” in DocBook.
